My name is Bauke Wolters, and I have been a Senior Consultant at Van de Groep & Olsthoorn since February 2012.
After completing Gymnasium in Groningen and spending a year at TH Twente, I studied Electrical Engineering at the HTS, specialising in High Voltage Technology. Later, I completed a post-HBO degree in Business Administration at SWOT. In 1986, I started as a trainee at Holec (now Eaton), but after six months, at my 25th, I was sent to France to set up a transformer factory using my best school French. After three years, I returned to the Netherlands and then worked at a plastic injection moulder in Steenwijk, specialising in lids. Following that, I spent five years near Berlin, where I founded and directed a Dutch holding’s installation company (gas/water/sanitary). This was during a major construction boom in the former East Germany. Back in the Netherlands, I worked in Maarssen as a Business Unit Manager for a galvanising company, which is why I still live there today.
In 2000, I entered the Recruitment & Selection field quite by chance—and I have never regretted it! After seven years at a large agency and one year at a small specialised firm, I worked for a few years as an independent interim professional until I decided in 2012 to commit fully to Recruitment & Selection. When it came to quality agencies specialised in Technology & Industry, the choice was essentially limited to one firm: after a call with Gertjan van de Groep, the deal was quickly sealed. Since then, I’ve been doing my best to hold my own here as a Groninger among Westerners.
I have been married to Kitty since 1987, and we have shared all these adventures together. Our son Michel is married and, unfortunately, lives in the southernmost tip of Germany. After 15 years as an active water polo player and another 20 years as a referee and coach, I recently hung up my whistle. I now greatly enjoy giving hobbyist tutoring in maths and physics.
