The M&G Group is the European market leader in the production and sale of flue gas extraction and ventilation systems. A profitable turnover of 140 million euros is achieved with 800 employees and factories in Assen, Groningen, Beverwijk, Turkey, Italy, Belgium and France. Sales are on the one hand centralised for OEM clients, and on the other hand, via an in-house European distribution organisation that mainly supplies technical wholesalers. The company has a first-rate reputation in the market, based in part on strong brands such as Burgerhout, Anjo and Stabile.
M&G Group has a clear strategy, whereby innovation of the existing product portfolio as well as its strategic diversification support the growth of its market share. This focus on innovation goes hand in hand with the introduction of modern project management. The total innovation process is borne by the R&D Manager together with Product Management and the Project Management Office (PMO). The R&D Manager is responsible for the product development of air supply and flue gas extraction systems for central heating and ventilation systems.
In order to position M&G Group as a leading innovator in the market and to lead and facilitate the R&D organisation, we are looking for an R&D Manager.
The position
As R&D Manager, you report to the CEO. You are responsible for approx. 20 people spread across product development and the development and testing laboratory. You coach and support the development of those in your R&D organisation, thereby ensuring an effective, productive and motivated team with the required skillbase.
In this position, you focus on revamping, improving and optimising the product programme. Your team will work on Technology- and Product Roadmaps in a project-based and goal-oriented manner within planned time frames and within budget. As an “Innovative Partner,” you work for clients on new applications and on improving established products.
In addition, you are involved in projects that aim to make products easier, faster and cheaper to produce and that shorten the time to market. You also, together with Product Management and PMO, look for optimal, group-wide cooperation to benefit effective end-to-end processes in general.
In this role, you follow technical developments within the flue gas and ventilation market so as to be a good sparring partner both within and outside the organisation. In this capacity, you communicate frequently with Management, Sales, Operations, Supply Chain, clients, suppliers, knowledge providers and standardisation bodies.

Your profile
For this challenging and multifaceted management position, we are looking for candidates with a completed academic university degree in Physics, Technology, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Design or equivalent. You have experience as the person responsible for an R&D/ Engineering team within high-quality production environments that have an in-house product portfolio.
You have extensive knowledge of innovative and product development processes, as well as project management, risk management and quality control. You are also technically proficient in the field of materials and production methods. An understanding of ventilation systems is an advantage.
You are an enthusiastic, persuasive and people-oriented manager with ample leadership experience in multidisciplinary teams. You are driven, results-oriented, creative, perceptive and have excellent communication skills; you have a sense of humour and a sense of proportion and are solution-oriented and flexible. You have the ambition to continuously develop yourself within your professional field.
You have an excellent command of the Dutch/English/German language, both spoken and in writing.
