Our client, Container Centralen A/S (CC), has been the developer and owner of the CC pool system, better known as the “Danish trolley’s”, for more than 45 years. The CC Container has been specially (but not exclusively) developed for the transport of plants and flowers. It currently serves as the standard load carrier within the floriculture industry in Europe. The CC pool system is suitable for growers, retailers, wholesalers, transporters  and retailers.

Within the CC pool system different earnings models are being applied: rental-fee, trip-fee and membership-fee.  The CC Container can be physically and/or administratively exchanged throughout the entire transport chain. An extensive network of CC depots (+/-50 in Europe) guarantees availability where and when customers need CC Containers.

CC has approximately 16,000 customers in Europe and 70,000 users (customers and business partners). These customers serve the entire chain from grower to consumer. The pool contains approximately 3.5 million trolleys and 15 million shelves; this results in approximately 700-800 million transfers of these RTIs per year. Pooling requires durable products and in connection with a proper repair and maintenance service the CC pool system ensures a sustainable solution for logistics in the floriculture sector.

CC’s European Service Center is located in Hoofddorp, near the train station. Approximately 50 people are employed from this location; another 20 people work in Europe. The company values ​​of CC are: We are a team, Embrace change, Make it happen & Personal Engagement.

Due to an upcoming retirement, we are looking for the new Manager 3PL.

Manager 3PL

As a 3PL Manager you are responsible for managing more than 50 different 3PL partners in Europe. These are usually smaller local companies. Here the CC Containers are stored, handed out, returned and sorted. If necessary, the containers are taken to one of the repair centers. You conclude contracts with the 3PL partners (handling costs, costs per m2, quality standards, etc.) and with your team monitor adherence to agreed standard operating procedures. You follow the agreed KPI’s and SLA’s and control and support partners hands-on. You do this by supporting their planning and sharing Best Practices, all aiming for Operational Excellence throughout the entire chain. The 3Pl Manager is responsible for 75% of CC’s direct costs.

You monitor and analyze data from the network and from the 3PL partners and focus on deviations, possible improvements and an optimal price/performance ratio. You visit the 3PL partners regularly and travel approximately twice a month. Sometimes it is necessary to escalate problems, for which you are also accountable.

At CC you are also involved in internal multidisciplinary working groups and projects, such as supporting the digital journey.

You lead a team of 3 people: a Depot Network Manager, an Operations Analyst and the Depot Supervisor in Hazerswoude. In this role you report to the CEO.

Your profile

You have a higher professional or academic education in a relevant field, such as Logistics, Economics and/or Business Administration. You have experience in managing 3PL companies either as a client or you have been working for a 3PL company. You are analytic, self-starter, customer-oriented and directed to solve problems together with your colleagues.

You are a strong conversationalist, listen well, are professional and positively critical. You are extrovert, informal and open to other cultures. The company language at CC is English, a command of Dutch is useful but not necessary.
