Bert-Jan de Visser (1974) studied General Operational Technology in Groningen. After working for a short period at Corus IJmuiden, he decided to take up Technical Business Sciences at the University of Groningen, with the main subject of Discrete Manufacturing. Bert-Jan: ‘After my graduation period at Essent, I was offered a job there. For the implementation of my study of 'waste mining' I contributed to the set-up of a new business unit. I realized that I was more interested in the human aspect and the commercial relationship with the various clients, rather than the technology in itself.’ In 2003, he joined Van de Groep & Olsthoorn. De Visser: ‘At Van de Groep & Olsthoorn, I started to develop my skills both as a consultant and as an entrepreneur. I focused on finding the right candidates for national and international management positions, especially in supply chain and operational management.’ He draws inspiration from the dynamics involved in the matching of candidates and clients. ‘It is about recognizing the distinguishing capacities and using these optimally. That is my passion,’ he concludes. |
